Incredible Tayko Plank Bridge

A while ago my husband challenged the boys to build a bridge that would support someone's weight. I did not think it was possible, but after trying different methods, the boys finally came up with one that worked. I was so impressed. Here is a fast-motion video of them building the bridge. Not only did it support my son, but my husband stood on it, too, and it didn't budge! Never under-estimate what your children are capable of.

About Tayko Planks

What Are Tayko Planks?

Tayko Planks are precision cut and sanded building planks. Because they are so precise and well-balanced, you can build incredible structures that defy gravity. They are made of maple, which is a hardwood, and will last for a lifetime and beyond. The possibilities are endless. You will not find a better toy for encouraging creativity, patience, and problem solving.

Why Tayko?

We spent a number of years in West Africa. While there, we were always fascinated with the ingenuity that the simple play things of the African children inspired in them. What they couldn't make out of a soda can! Or a bicycle rim! Or a branch! In honor of them, we decided to name our construction planks Tayko, which in their language means "one who makes things."

Who is Behind Tayko?

Tayko Planks is a small family-run business that specializes in quality wooden toys and superior customer service. We are a home school family of seven who live in upstate New York. We believe that every child is born creative with a desire to learn about the world around them and we love to encourage them in that pursuit.
